45NRTH's Wölvhammer are winter cycling boots with a mountaineering boot soul. On the inside, 45NRTH maxes out the insulation package with 200g Thinsulate on the forefoot and NASA-approved aerogel in the insole to block cold cleats. On the outside, 1000-denier Cordura and waterproof, yet breathable Sympatex outers block moisture and manage perspiration. For deep snow, you can easily add knee-high gaiters (sold separately) using the dedicated hook on the toe box. And of course, the Vibram soles are ready for SPD-style cleat of your choice. Say good-bye to cold, and hello to comfort.
In order to mount your pedal cleats to your shoes (cleats are included with new pedals and sold separately), the cleats and shoes must have matching bolt patterns.
There are four cleat configurations found on cycling shoes (diagram): SPD-R, Look/SPD-SL, SPD and Speedplay. Road shoes feature one, two or even three of these. Off-road shoes usually use the SPD pattern. If you're unsure which cleats your shoes require, please ask us. We're here to help!
